Sometimes I forget how incredibly wealthy Americans are in comparison to
the rest of the planet's population. When I took my trip out to New
York in October, I brought spending money so I could have some fun. One
of the stores we went to blew me away. I was buying stocking stuffers
and other little non-essentials . . . to try to help people who are
struggling for essentials. It made me sad to think of having expendable
money when so many people don't have necessities. But I'd rather shop in
a store like that than go to a big-box store to help rich people get
more rich. These were the tags on the items:
Trying to format this page . . . has made me go crazy. Done for now. Messy but saved.

FitFlops
In my quest to get rid of scraps of paper (short of just chucking them all out), I need to make note of a shoe that someone (my dental hygienist) recommended. I finally went online to see what "FitFlops" are all about . . . and I am way too cheap to even try them. The concept intrigues me - biomechanically designed and built shoes to support feet comfortably. Now, if the prices are ever a half to a third less than what I saw on their website, I may just buy a pair!

Maps and Curiosity
I'm not sure my blog is the best place to put this, but I find things like this to be interesting and don't want to "lose" it. The maps at this site are odd, interesting, and thought-provoking. I like this page, although I'm not sure how accurate the information is (and I don't care one whit about Ludacris . . . ). I love being curious and wanting to learn. Enjoy the maps!

Kindness
Back in July, I had a dental appointment. When my hygienist, Brooke, asked how I was, I told her that things had been difficult. As I shared about Sam's accident and Nick's distance from me emotionally, I teared up. She was so kind and compassionate. She shared about her brother-in-law's SCI and the hard work he had to regain what he lost. A few weeks later, a card came in the mail. It was so very sweet of her to connect like that. She and others have blessed me so much with kindness.
