Again, this was a no-brainer in terms of it WOULD get done. But when I have so many things I'm trying to do, it's nice to get back to a focal point. Reminding myself that prepping and packing were the priority helped me with this One Thing!
Just over a week before our trip, I went to my friend's house to try on dresses. (I have dresses, but she's fancier than I am.) Here are some of the tasks I've been able to do over the past week:
- wrap up church responsibilities for when I'll be gone and communicate with relevant people
- check to make sure I selected our seats on each flight (I did - back when I booked)
- pick out clothing, shoes, etc.
- list the things I need to consider and pack (e.g. sunglasses. I always seem to forget them and I don't need to buy more!)
- hold our mail for when we'll be gone (I love the USPS.)
- prep stuff for our dog to go to the Canine Country Club
- Communicated with my sister about our timeline for leaving and got her a gift for our early morning trip to the airport.
- We kept adding things to our list, which was nice. We each think of different things and don't like last-minute panics.
- We're pretty good at coming up with a "plan B" if we need to. We can buy things on our trip if we really feel that we need them.
- I like to run the dishwasher before we go and leave a relatively clean house, but it's not that essential.
- We go up to the lake often enough that turning off the water heater and minimizing HVAC is a given. (I put those on my list anyhow!)
- Got my pedicure!
Since I'm writing this early, I set it to post on midnight Saturday / Sunday morning. So far, I love my 2025 "OneThing" blogging project. I've been looking ahead and trying to set one important but attainable goal. There are lots of other little things I do each week, of course, but so far I'm really enjoying this. I tried to add a picture to this post, but Google is giving me trouble. I want to move on, so no pic this week!
(I like photos, so I'm adding the one below on February 1st. Louie and I were sitting in Mallory Square on Tuesday, January 21st in Key West, waiting for the sunset and watching all the activity.)
