Time and Thankfulness

Today was lovely. Worship and fellowship at church this morning. Time to finally decorate the house for Christmas! Time to finish the laundry, catch up on some papers, enjoy the fireplace, etc. I'm so thankful for many things! Praise God for His goodness! Tonight, I'm thankful for my warm home, my wonderful husband, my fantastic boys, and our sweet little dog. I'm thankful that I have a great job to go to tomorrow. I'm thankful that my parents and siblings are all alive. But most of all, I'm thankful to have a saving relationship with Jesus Christ!

Tears and Thoughts

A friend forwarded this YouTube clip to me. It's a little boy's phone call to a Christian radio station. It made me cry, but in a good way. What a neat little kid!

Blogging

Now that I've started a blog for my Metronet class, I plan to keep this one as my whatever-I-feel-like writing about blog. The one I made four years ago and finally found again, I'm trying to decide what to do with it. . . my reader's response blog? I just don't know what direction to go. It's not as though anyone's ever read this one. . . with whom would I like to share my musings? Are they even worthy of an audience? Perhaps a reader's blog. Right now, my reading responses are in an excel document. . . I think it's time to change.

Let it snow!

Saturday morning was gorgeous! A fire in the fireplace, snow lightly falling, and a day without a full agenda - heaven! It was so beautiful that I had Nick take a photo to send to Matthieu in France.

We had a wonderful healing service last night. It was such a blessing! I am thankful for all that Jesus is doing in our lives right now. I look forward to time this week with family to relax and enjoy our blessings!

Time

There's never enough of it! I just finished stamping and addressing the envelopes for my in-laws' 50th wedding anniversary party. Now I'm tired and don't feel like doing anything else tonight. . . It's been a great day, but life in general is just too busy! Well, praise God I've been blessed with so many wonderful gifts. I need to appreciate the time I do have (and use it well).

eureka!

Confessions of a previously-non-tv-watcher:
I'm now hooked on a tv show! Every Tuesday night, I plan to be home so I can watch eureka on the SciFi channel. It's a cute, sweet, funny, smart show and I really like it! My family teases me, since I'm usually so uninterested in television. They've now got a monster on their hands. One cannot talk with me until commercial break (ask Alex about cutting down a tree in the back yard because the wind was inhibiting our satellite signal .. .). Yes, sad but true, I am now "into" television.

Time management

It's only the sixth day of school and my to-do lists are begetting more to-do lists. I almost feel like I'm ready for the first day of school now . . . Tomorrow I start orientation with the sixth graders! I love seeing the students in the media center getting books to read. It's fun to hear them ask about favorite titles. Right now, I should be heading home, but there's always "one more thing" to do!

Fun in NP!

I'm excited to see my New Prague pals this week! Kreuser's in Morehead, North Carolina (or is it South? I always get those mixed up!) and Neufy's in Montana, but the rest of the gang should be around. This picture shows the evidence of true fun at work. Feed corn left everywhere! I don't think we ever really repaid this one. . .

First Day of School

It seemed almost surreal this morning - at work by 7 am, greeting students, and getting the morning show on air. The day flew by in a blur, and I still don't feel ready for it to begin! I am rearranging the media center - yes, on the first day of school - and everything is katywumpus right now. I'll be wearing grubby clothes tomorrow!
It's fun to hear about the boys' school days, too, though Alex is currently MIA. Louie's in Bloomington waiting for him to show up at Grandma Eileen's house . . . ahh, the bus system in Minneapolis. What fun!

Intel training

It's the end of summer. When I was a kid, summer wasn't over until Labor Day. Now, it's when I go back for training. Last week, Lisa Gearman and I taught a Tech Bytes class. It was fun, but I was still in denial about the start of the school year. This week, it's been the Intel® Teach to the Future class. Setting the alarm clock is agonizing when you've been in summer mode. But four days of talking about learning objectives, backward design, and planning a unit has snapped me back to school mode. These are some very cool tools!

Finally

After many aborted attempts over the past three years, I am finally becoming a blogger. Setting this up gave me pause - am I blogging as a Christian? A quilter? A teacher? I suppose if it's "Jeanne's musings," it will be all those and more. Let the adventure begin!
